A Sandy White Christmas

A Briny Breezes Christmas of White Sandy Beaches

My parents bought into Briny in the 1970s and retired down there two years later. Spent most winters there. My dad passed away in 1990, but my mom stayed there another 9 winters until she passed away around 2000.

I spent most winter holidays there.  I kidded folks and said I wanted a  ‘White Christmas’…that was white sand between my toes on the beach on Christmas day as I took annual dip in the ocean in December, no matter what.

When I retired, I spent more time down there.   I enjoyed the heated pool! Always went in as long as it wasn’t freezing. Had a few real cold days.

My parents were in the square dance group and my dad spent a little time at the wood shop club.

Everyone went to boating and fishing club, but most didn’t go boating or fishing!

And there was a travel club.  Each year at Christmas they put on a special show – don’t know if that is still going on.

After my mom died about 10 years ago – I decided to sell the place. Not too much fun for someone 53 years old as everyone else on the street was of my parent’s generation, and I really didn’t fit in. So I sold the place.

Then the hurricanes hit, and it looks like lots of damage. Then the potential sale messed up things, and fell through, so I’m not sure what is left.

Well, that is all past history. I see Briny still doing OK down there, but never fully recovered likely from the hurricanes that swept through.  Some still holding out for bonanza to sell to developer.  Oh well.
